Jamie Leavey, PsyD, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry in the Forensic Division and serves as the Forensic Psychiatry Resident Supervisor at LSU Health New Orleans. She earned a Master of Science in Forensic Psychology (University of North Dakota, 2016) as well as a Master of Arts and Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University New England (2021, 2023). Following her internship with the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in Johnson City, TN, Dr. Leavey completed her postdoctoral fellowship in adult clinical psychology at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA, with placements at University Medical Center in acute inpatient units and the outpatient behavioral health clinic.
Dr. Leavey has extensive training in acute and chronic severe mental illness, trauma, and health psychology. In addition, she has completed substantial training in forensic psychology and has provided related assessment and intervention in the private sector, a state hospital (Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital), and in multiple inpatient units. She is a licensed psychologist in Louisiana and Virginia and conducts forensic evaluations in both states. She has presented at regional, state, and national conferences on topics related to military servicemembers, capital punishment, and intimate partner violence. As a former elementary school teacher, Dr. Leavey is passionate about education and enjoys providing training and supervision to psychiatry and psychology trainees.
