General (Ambulatory) Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine
The Mission of Ambulatory Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine To address the health care needs of children, adolescents and young adults in Greater New Orleans, Louisiana and beyond through evidence-based culturally sensitive care, the advanced education of health professionals, the conduct of relevant research, and translation of research and policy into practice.
The Division's diverse faculty provides care for thousands of infants, children and
adolescents in community health clinics throughout Greater New Orleans. These patient
centered community health clinics comprise the core longitudinal continuity clinic
and adolescent health experiences for LSUHSC Pediatric residents as well as LSU Medical
Students, Nursing Students, Dental Students and Physician Assistant Students. They
also include a Spanish speaking clinic. Faculty also provide care at the Touro Infirmary
Nursery, the Children's Hospital Adolescent Behavioral Health Unit and Manning Family
Children's Hospital inpatient wards. Our faculty staff a School-Based Health Center
in a local public secondary school and provide comprehensive medical and behavioral
health care to over 2000 adolescents- keeping kids in school and parents at work or
home.
Faculty are engaged in various public health programs and research projects including
pediatric nutrition, adolescent STI and reproductive health care, and clinical best-practices
for adolescent parents and their children.

Section Highlights
The General Pediatric Ambulatory Division consists of five faculty members who provide a medical home for children including preventative and acute care, as well as teach and supervise residents and medical students in the Pediatric Academic Continuity Clinics. Our team also includes a pediatrician dedicated to the care of newborns and a craniofacial pediatrician who collaborates with the surgical craniofacial team to manage complex cases. Additionally, our Interim Division Head also serves as the Medical Director of the LSUHSC School-Based Health Center, where she oversees all operations and clinical care. Our team's mission is to deliver high quality care to every pediatric patient and provide a continuum of academic excellence within a nurturing and professional environment, cultivating a community characterized by mutual respect and empathy.
