Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship Program

Mentorship and Guidance

Scholarship Oversight Committee

The fellow’s scholarly project is conducted under the guidance of the program director, designated mentors, and the Scholarship Oversight Committee (SOC). The SOC is a collaborative body consisting of faculty from LSU and Tulane University, including pediatric subspecialty experts and other relevant professionals. The committee's primary role is to support and mentor the fellow throughout their research journey.

Quarterly Reviews and Support

Through regular quarterly meetings the SOC provides a structured framework of objectives and benchmarks, facilitates any research hurdles, opens avenues for professional networking, and ultimately endorses the fellow’s scholarly contributions.

Research Advisory Panel

Our department is committed to nurturing research productivity through the establishment of a Research Advisory Panel. This panel, comprising clinician scientists, engages with our fellows at pivotal stages of their research journey.
The panel’s introduction occurs during the Scholarship Academy week, marking the beginning of a sustained mentorship and advisory relationship. Panel members are a constant presence at fellowship research presentations, offering their expertise to refine and guide the fellows’ projects.

Beyond mere oversight, the panel provides critical feedback, advising on the fellows’ progress and actively participating in the transformation of their efforts into significant scholarly contributions.
