Dr. Morrison is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. She is certified in both General Pediatrics and Hematology/Oncology by the American Board of Pediatrics and has practiced Hematologist/Oncology at Children’s Hospital since 2010. She performs clinical duties in both the inpatient and ambulatory care settings. Dr. Morrison is a native New Orleanian and an alumni of Xavier University of Louisiana obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry. She subsequently completed medical school, Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellowship at LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. She developed the Palliative care program at Children’s Hospital, the Pelican Krewe, in 2015 and served as medical director until 2018. She is the co-director of the Clinical Ethics program and co-chairs the Ethics Committee.

Dr. Morrison is a member of multiple national professional medical societies and actively participates in clinical research trials through the Children’s Oncology Group (COG). She is devoted to medical education with contributions in the clinical training and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows. She remains resolute towards efforts in increasing childhood cancer and sickle cell awareness to support research, clinical advancements, and supportive services. Dr. Morrison is a member of the leadership team for one of the residency and fellowship mentorship programs. She is also Associate director of a community-based education program for high school and undergraduate students promoting careers in the healthcare field. She draws inspiration daily from the strength and courage displayed by children, young adults and their family members during their sickle cell or cancer journey. Dr. Morrison has witnessed firsthand the importance of a mission, and initiatives aimed at narrowing the gap in health care disparities and providing equitable care to every patient.
