Dr. Amanda F. Messer is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the LSU Health
Sciences Center in New Orleans. She has been a dedicated member of the faculty since
2017. Dr. Messer completed her medical degree and residency at the Louisiana State
University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, followed by a fellowship in Pediatric
Hospital Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Messer led the formation of the state's only Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship
Program and continues to serve as its Program Director. She has been recognized for
her excellence in teaching and contributions to medical education. She has been the
recipient of several prestigious awards, including the 2024 Robert Suskind MD and
Leslie Lewinter-Suskind Outstanding Pediatric Faculty Award and the Nicholas Gagliano
MD Outstanding Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching, as elected by residents.
Dr. Messer has also been named a New Orleans Magazine Top Doctor.
In addition to her teaching and mentorship roles, Dr. Messer has made significant
contributions to curriculum development and clinical practice, particularly in the
division of pediatric hospital medicine. Her scholarly interests include medical education,
quality improvement, and evidence-based clinical practice.
