Fellow Testimonials

Vaughn-Allen

De’Angellica Vaughn-Allen, MD, Current Fellow

“Being a part of the LSU ID family has been an amazing experience. Everyone here is committed to ensuring that we are provided with the best educational tools and opportunities. New Orleans offers a variety of patients, pathology, and experiences that allow me to truly appreciate this field and understand the impact that I will have as an Infectious Diseases specialist.  I can’t imagine training anywhere else!”

Ledet

Logan Ledet, MD, Private Practice

“I graduated from LSU medical school, left for residency, and then decided to return for fellowship not only because I knew I would get the depth of training required for a career in ID, but also because I knew I would gain lifelong connections with the faculty. Both my husband and I were born and raised in Louisiana and knew we would be starting our family here. I currently work in solo practice at a community hospital outside of New Orleans, but in many ways I feel like I never left LSU -- whether I'm reaching out to Dr. Burke to discuss a case that is stumping me or working with Dr. Clement on IDSA projects. My former attendings, co-fellows, and students have become friends and colleagues who are always there for a bit of advice or to catch up over food and drinks. I highly recommend the LSU ID fellowship program and hope that you're lucky enough to be a part of it!”

Yau

Tat Yau, MD, Academics

“I chose the LSU ID program because of our faculty members—they are not only exceptionally knowledgeable but also passionate about teaching and great mentors. During my training, I was exposed to a wide range of ID experiences, including inpatient consults, HIV primary care, hepatitis clinics, sexual health clinics, transplant ID consults, antibiotic stewardship, and clinical microbiology. These invaluable learning experiences have well prepared me for my future practice as a clinician educator here at LSU Health in New Orleans. Equally important to career development is the outstanding work-life balance afforded by the program to enjoy the vibrant culture of New Orleans. Spending time with friends and family, enjoying phenomenal food (especially dessert) as well as local music all contribute to both my personal and professional growth.”
