Bio
Dr. Walvekar is a native of Mumbai, India. She received her medical degree from the
University of Mumbai and subsequently completed a residency in Anesthesiology at the
T.N. Medical College & BYL Nair Charitable Hospital in Mumbai. Dr. Walvekar practiced
in academic medicine at T.N Medical College & B.Y.L Nair Charitable Hospital as well
as J.J Group of Hospitals as a Senior Lecturer/Faculty until she moved to the United
States to pursue further training in 2006. Dr. Walvekar completed her Internal Medicine
Residency at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans in 2011 and served as a Chief
Resident 2011-2012. Dr. Walvekar joined the LSU Internal Medicine Program, Hospital
Medicine division in 2012 and now holds the title of Associate Professor in Clinical
Medicine.
Clinical Interests
Dr.Walvekar is the Director and developer of Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) curriculum
for Internal Medicine, Combined Medicine-Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine-Internal
Medicine Residents which was implemented in July 2020.
