Bio
While growing up in the Lafayette area, I played basketball (poorly), and developed
a love for biology, anthropology, and history. I attended Emory University, where
I pursued a degree in neuroscience and behavioral biology while attempting to pursue
minors in history and anthropology. I then moved to New Orleans and began medical
school at LSUHSC in July of 2005, just in time for Hurricane Katrina. Being a part
of this city and medical community during the aftermath and recovery from Katrina
reaffirmed my desire to pursue a career in academic medicine in New Orleans. After
completing my residency in Internal Medicine as part of the Hospitalist Track, I
joined the faculty at LSUHSC-NO in 2012 in the section of hospital medicine.
My practice is based as part of the LSU Hospital Medicine group at Ochsner Kenner
Medical Center, but I also try to rotate at our other hospitals every chance that
I get. I am deeply interested in cardiology, critical care, and hospital-based system
improvement. I also have a passion for bioethics and palliative care, and currently
serve as the bioethics chair of OKMC. I also serve as the director of the stroke
program at OKMC, where we are working to expand the integration of telemedicine to
deliver stroke expertise to outlying facilities at a system level. Finally, I have
an obsession with history of all kinds, including medical history, and I apologize
in advance for any esoteric references that I may make.
