Bio
Dr. Masri joined the faculty of LSU School of Medicine in 2005 after completing his residency program at LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. He became Director of Hospitalist Services at Ochsner Medical Center - Kenner the following year and remains in that leadership role today overseeing both LSU internal medicine resident and medical students rotation at that campus. During his time at Ochsner Medical Center - Kenner, Dr. Masri has served as Chairman of the Department of Medicine, Vice Chief of Staff, Chief of Staff, and Immediate Past President as well as serving on a multitude of quality committees,
Dr. Masri has received several teaching awards over the years. The Aesculapian Medical Honor Society presented Dr. Masri with their Excellence in Teaching Award in 2004. He was inducted into AOA as a faculty member early in his career. Dr. Masri directed the creation of a website, LSU32.com, that focuses on the teaching of physical examination skills to trainees. He was inducted into the Who's Who in Medicine Higher Education and was recently recognized by his peers as one of Louisiana's Top Doctors.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Masri made several appearances on MSNBC discussing the effect of COVID-19 on the region. He created a video log series that was profiled on The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell and was interviewed by Katy Tur and Brian Williams. In addition, Dr. Masri was a regular guest on the ESPN radio broadcast of Off The Bench as well as the Jordy Hultberg and Kaare Johnson radio shows giving regular updates on COVID-19 and its effect on the local community.
