The July meeting of the Simulation Medical Training and Education Council for Louisiana was hosted LSU Learning Center. The Council recently decided to choose simulation sites from around the state for meetings and tours. LSUHSC New Orleans was chosen as the first site to host council members. Director of Simulation Operations and council member, Daryl Lofaso, led the group on an extensive tour showcasing the capabilities of LSU’s Learning Center simulators.
The Simulation Council is an extension of the state Department of Education and was formed after approval from the State Legislature in 2009. The council’s stated purpose is to develop an infrastructure and governing process to coordinate and maximize simulation training resources and expertise, in both urban and rural areas of the state, and to enhance effective use of simulation training for students, faculty and practitioners throughout the health professions statewide.
