Lafayette Internal Medicine Residents at ACP Meeting in San Diego

March Madness hit very hard at UHC this year. Three Internal Medicine residents, Rick Faul, MD, Jason Charrier, MD and Syed Saad, MD, placed first in the state American College of Physician’s “Doctor’s Dilemma” game, a medical Jeopardy contest.  The team performed well, earning them a ticket to compete in the Nationals! The residents represented Louisiana in San Diego at the National Internal Medicine Meeting held March 30-April 1, 2017, and competed against 49 teams for the coveted Osler Cup. Unfortunately, they did not win, but were still excited as this is the first year we were able to represent Louisiana at Nationals. Congratulations!

The American College of Physicians features this Jeopardy-style game for residents.  For more information, or to test your own knowledge, visit https://www.acponline.org/membership/residents/competitions-awards/doctors-dilemma

Dr. Janet Manalac, Internal Medicine Resident, was selected as the poster finalist for the local American College of Physicians (ACP) Chapter in New Orleans. As a result, Dr. Manalac was awarded entry into the National Poster Competition at the ACP National meeting. Dr. Manalac also gave an oral presentation of a “Mystery Case.” This case was presented by the resident to the audience, and there was a panel of three senior faculty from various programs attempting to guess the case based on the resident’s presentation.  Dr. Manalac’s presentation was the only oral presentation chosen by the LA-ACP chapter to present at the National Chapter Meeting in San Diego.

Congratulations Drs. Faul, Charrier, Saad and Manalac!
