The End-of- Life Care elective course was redesigned for the 2016-2017 academic year. The redesigned course provides students with additional opportunities to work with hospice patients and families. In early October, students participated in an evening session with hospice staff members where they discussed the logistics of the care and physician relationship with the agency. The course concluded in early December with a dinner session and family members sharing their hospice experience with the students. It was a very emotional session. Sincere gratitude was expressed by the students to the families for sharing their experiences, especially about a time that was so difficult. The course is directed by Dr. Shane Sanne, and it will be offered again in the spring semester.
