The CME office completed their 15 month reaccreditation process with a final accreditation decision received from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) in March, 2016. The ACCME awarded the LSU CME office with accreditation with commendation, earning the CME office an extra year of the accreditation term, to six years instead of five.
The distinction of accreditation with commendation is granted to CME providers who demonstrate an ability to integrate CME into the improvement of physician’s professional practice. Using CME as a strategic partnership to collaborate in quality initiatives promotes life-long learning for physicians and improves the overall quality of healthcare for the population. This achievement for the LSU CME office is due to the CME activity medical directors who work closely with the CME office to ensure compliance with the ACCME Standards in all of LSU’s CME activities. The attention to detail and willingness to pursue high-quality educational planning and evaluation ensures CME activities meet the needs of our physicians and population.
