The Office of Medical Student Research

The Office of Medical Student Research offers research training and resources to medical students, resident and fellows as well as faculty who are involved in research training. Our goal is to make getting involved with research as easy as possible.  Dr. Gregory guides students to research opportunities and helps facilitate the research component of the curriculum.  This office coordinates the Summer Research Opportunities, the research electives, the Medical Student Honors Program and opportunities for year-long research experiences. 

 

Paula Gregory, Ph.D.

Paula Gregory, Ph.D. is the Assistant Dean for Medical Student Research in the School of Medicine.  Her PhD research was carried out at Tulane University on cancer cytogenetics. Dr. Gregory worked at the NIH and then at the Ohio State University College of Medicine where she coordinated summer research experiences for medical students. Currently, she has 3 NIH grants to fund summer research internships for medical students and is the Co-Director of the Career Development Core for LACaTS, Director of the Summer Research program for an NCI grant and a for a COBRE award.  Dr. Gregory has nearly 25 years experience working with medical students conducting research and 15 years experience teaching grant writing skills.
