DR. BRIAN LEE HAS BEEN NAMED DEPARTMENT HEAD OF DERMATOLOGY

It is with great pleasure to inform you that Dr. Brian Lee has accepted the Dean’s offer to serve as the permanent Department Head of Dermatology. His selection follows the completion of a national search. He begins in his permanent role this week. Dr. Lee has served as Interim Department Head since April 2014 when Dr. Nesbitt, his mentor and predecessor, died unexpectedly.

Dr. Lee, a native of Louisiana, is also an alumnus of LSUHSC School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed his dermatology training here at LSU School of Medicine as well. He has been intimately involved in the Dermatology Residency Program (Program Director since 2002!) and is well known for his clinical acumen as a diagnostician. He has been dedicated to the VA and to our veteran community, serving in a leadership capacity at the VA since 1993; he continues to support the SELVHSC as it transitions with new dermatology physician staff members and to new service leadership. He is committed to continuing his program’s relationship with SELVHSC and to expanding its academic relationship with LCMC and our other clinical partners.

Dr. Lee has been extremely loyal to the department and to the university and we are grateful that he is willing to continue as Department Head. Please congratulate Dr. Lee when you have the opportunity to do so. We are very excited to have him as a permanent member of the School of Medicine leadership team.
