ROBIN ENGLISH NAMED ASSISTANT DEAN FOR UNDERGRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION

Robin English, MD has been appointed as Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education at LSUHSC School of Medicine in New Orleans.  She graduated from LSU School of Medicine in 1995, completed her pediatrics residency at LSU, served as chief resident, and joined the faculty in 1999. She is currently Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, and has distinguished herself as an outstanding clinician, educator, and leader.  She was instrumental in establishing the pediatric hospitalist service at Children’s Hospital.  She has served as pediatrics clerkship director, course director for the SPM 100 course, and course director for the CSI 101 and 102 courses.  Since 2008, she has been Director of the Clinical Sciences Curriculum.  She has received numerous teaching awards, and has been inducted into both AOA and the Gold Humanism Honor Society.  For the last 4 years, Dr. English has led the design and implementation of a major curriculum renewal for the school of medicine.  She also played a key role in the development of the Health Science Center’s Quality Enhancement Project on interprofessional education (IPE) for the 2015 SACS reaccreditation.  She will continue to serve as a pediatric hospitalist at Children’s Hospital for the Department of Pediatrics.
